Why is it important?
Very limited research has been done on the sociolinguistic situation of Macau, a place of mixed and diverse population and culture, let alone the language practices of Macau youth in computer-mediated communication.
Perspectives
A local identity is indeed budding among teens in Macau, though linguistically and culturally they have been very much influenced by cultures outside Macau.
