What is it about?

This editorial piece is for a 4-part, Special Issue series of Botanica Marina that takes off from the landmark book, Seaweed Resources of the World, edited by Masao Ohno, Alan Critchley, Danilo Largo and Russell Gelliespie, first published in 1998 by JICA, Japan). Aside from presenting fresh information on some countries' seaweed resources and industry, also honors the legacy of Professor Masao Ohno whose network of leading contemporary phycologists put together the Seaweed Resources book.
