How cultural phenomena can be treated in dictionaries.

What is it about?

Every word and expression in a dictionary is culture-bound, and every word and expression in a language is culture-bound. The treatment depends on whether it is a communicative or a cognitive dictionary, and the cultural, factual and linguistic competences of the intended users affect the way in which culture-bound phenomena should be explained and represented in dictionaries.
