This article presents a reflection on the hurdles faced by arts and health organisations during England’s COVID-19 lockdown in 2020-2021 through the work of the arts team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), Lime Arts.

Why is it important?

In this article, we explore the artistic and creative response from Lime Arts as well as the creative response to Lime from NHS staff working at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT hereafter) during the initial COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in England. We reflect on two projects that were created during 2020 and 2021 and on the culminating Creativity and Wellbeing Festival showcasing participant work, which took place in May 2022, considering the creative perspective behind the project and why was so successful.
