What is it about?

This study is based on interviews with 20 university students from Pakistan who were asked about their views of identity, rights and duties. Religion, morality and caste were specially important to these students while explaining their views on these topics.

Why is it important?

This study is based on an Asian context and emphasises the importance of religion and morality in Asian culture and caste in Pakistani culture. So, it is significant in noting the importance of context in forming students' perceptions as well as creating more contextually relevant frameworks of citizenship.

Perspectives

This study gives an initial insight into young Pakistani's views of citizenship themes.
