Why is it important?

Water is a pilar of most sustainable development goals (SDGs) but has not received enough attention so far due to the lack of i) emphasis in the Paris Agreement, ii) accuracy in climate projections, iii) evaluation of existing adaptation measures, and iv) consideration in land-based mitigation options.

Perspectives

While the article may not reflect a full consensus among the scientific community, it raises important questions that need to be addressed with greater depth and transdisciplinarity in forthcoming studies and IPCC reports.
