What is it about?
Pharmacists are among the most accessible healthcare professionals and can play an important role in helping people manage asthma. They can support patients through medication counseling, inhaler technique education, and advice on disease management. In this study, we explored pharmacists’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to asthma management. By identifying strengths and areas for improvement, the findings provide insight into how pharmacists can be better supported in delivering high-quality asthma care.

Why is it important?
Asthma affects millions of people worldwide and requires ongoing management to prevent complications and improve quality of life. Pharmacists are well positioned to contribute to asthma care, but this requires adequate knowledge and confidence in providing patient support. The findings of this study may help guide future educational initiatives, pharmacy curricula, and continuing professional development programs aimed at strengthening pharmacists’ role in asthma management.
Perspectives
As a pharmacy educator and researcher, I am particularly interested in understanding how pharmacists can contribute to improving patient care beyond medication dispensing. Asthma is a common chronic condition that often requires ongoing patient education and support, making pharmacists well positioned to play a meaningful role. What I find most valuable about this work is its potential to identify educational needs and opportunities for professional development. By better understanding pharmacists’ knowledge and practices, we can help strengthen their contribution to asthma management and patient outcomes.
