What is it about?
Bone does not behave the same in every direction, and its behaviour changes over time and with damage. In this study, we built a computer model that reproduces how real bone reacts when it is loaded, based on data from literature experiments. The model captures the bone complex response, including its directional properties and time-dependent effects. This helps us better understand how bone works and provides useful tools for improving simulations and medical applications.

Why is it important?
Our work offers a novel approach to accurately describing how bone behaves in various directions and under complex loading conditions. This is important because bone is not uniform, and capturing its true mechanical response is essential for accurate digital models. The approach we propose allows researchers and engineers to predict bone performance better, improve implant design, and support more reliable patient-specific simulations.
Perspectives
Working on this article was a rewarding experience, as it brought together different expertise and perspectives from our team. I hope this work encourages others to explore integrated approaches that link real biological behaviour with simulation, helping to move closer to realistic and patient-centred digital models.
