What is it about?

Obstructive lung disease is an important public health concern, but little high-quality nationally-representative data is available, especially in developing countries. We provide estimates of the prevalence of obstructive lung disease in India using new nationally-representative data with objective measurement. We also investigate disease awareness and symptoms, as well as evaluating established risk factors.

Estimates can inform future modeling efforts as well as policy and preparedness efforts. Findings emphasize the importance of large-scale campaigns in India focused on disease prevention, diagnosis, and management.
