What is it about?

This is an outline of a study that will put together all rigourous studies testing psychotherapies and advocacy to improve the mental health of victims/survivors of domestic abuse. We will do an advanced statistical analysis that will explain which parts of each programme are more effective for different demographic and socio-economic groups of victims/survivors

Why is it important?

This field is very complicated, and there is uncertainty about what types of psychotherapy and advocacy are more effective for the very different groups of victims/survivors. Since most agencies providing such care are underfunded, it will help them and policymakers make better informed decisions about what programmes to implement

Perspectives

This work is very important to me, as I know this method is great at producing very rich information, and I thought it was absurd that it had not been used in the field of mental health of victims/survivors of domestic abuse to shed light on all the complexities. As someone with lived experience of domestic abuse myself, I have to say that we need and deserve to have the most detailed information on how to recover from such a devastating experience.
