What is it about?

This study is about the development of a self-rehabilitation strategy for rural community-dwelling stroke survivors. the strategy was developed in collaboration with stroke survivors through focus group discussion and consensus was achieved among stroke rehabilitation experts on the relevance of the content of the strategy.

Why is it important?

This study is unique as it considered the cultural and religious aspect in stroke rehabilitation. The methodology used can guide the development of future intervention strategies among different patients' population.

Perspectives

This publication is timely, as it will help promote stroke rehabilitation in rural areas of low and lower-middle income settings, particularly, at this time of raising contagious diseases such as the COVID19, which bring about prevention protocols thereby making one-on-one session of rehabilitation difficult.
