What is it about?

This study is to explore the factors associated with migrants being medically excluded from healthcare services in South Africa, using the GCRO datasets. The findings revealed that majority of the respondents to be medically excluded from healthcare services are non-nationals, who cannot speak the local dialect and do not have access to medical aid.

Why is it important?

This findings suggest that government agencies and non- governmental organisations should bridge the gap by playing the role of diplomacy and cooperation between nationals and non- nationals.

Perspectives

To the Authors knowledge, this is the first study conducted in South Africa using GCRO datasets to explore this phenomenon.
