Why is it important?

Our study revealed that low household dietary diversity, absence of counseling and education on nutrition, and substance use are the determinants of malnutrition in AIDS patients. An integrated nutritional intervention including income-generating activities, counseling and education on nutrition and bad habits, and regular monitoring of the nutritional status during clinic visits are critical.

The procedure followed by the investigators is clearly described in this paper and other researchers and readers can gain much from it.
