What is it about?
Aphyocypris normalis a small freshwater fish native to Hainan Island. We provided the phylogeography of this species on the island, and tried to described a biogeographic pattern on primary freshwater fish of Hainan.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that the phylogeographic pattern of Aphyocypris normalis on Hainan Island highly correlated with climate, especially rainfall. The isolation between water systems always recognized in freshwater fish biogeographic research is not very relevant. The haplotypes of some populations distributed across river systems. This should be related to frequent regional floods in Hainan Island.
