What is it about?

Maternity waiting homes (MWHs) are temporary residences for high-risk pregnant women or women living far from healthcare facilities, promoting safe delivery and emergency obstetric care. The objective of the present study was to evaluate MWH use and related factors in northwest Ethiopia.

Why is it important?

The significance of this research for public health is that it will inform health managers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders about factors determining the use of MWHs. By utilizing MWHs, more women will have the chance of giving birth in a health care facility, thereby reducing maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality.

Perspectives

We feel that this research will make a significant contribution to solving the MWH utilization gap and reducing maternal and perinatal mortality rates.
