Why is it important?

Using innovative methods from network analysis and text mining, the authors analyze 15,465 scientific articles and identify 27 main research topics related to gender equality. The most prominent research topics are related to women in the workforce, such as compensation, role, education, decision-making, and career progression. However, some research trends are losing momentum, while others related to female entrepreneurship, leadership, and board participation are on the rise.

Perspectives

The paper presents a map of the main gender research trends, the most popular and emerging themes, and their intersections, outlining important directions for future research.
