What is it about?
The effects of human-caused environmental change are immense. However, the types of effects, their causes, and how they are distributed globally are not equal. In other words, there are lots of differences around the world that needed to be accounted for to understand what's happening, where is it happening, how do we best prevent these risks, and how can we most effectively respond to the hazards already happening.

Why is it important?
Knowing what the human-caused environmental hazards and risks are globally is essential to building sound policies and practices to reduce them and to adapt to them. This study accounts for two main types of risk: climate change and toxic pollution. These are the two greatest challenges to human health today.
