What is it about?

Many patients admitted with pneumonia are not managed as they should be. In our study, we aimed to assess and improve adherence to the current treatment recommendations for pneumonia. At the end of the study, a significantly higher amount of patients received the care they should.

Why is it important?

Our study shows that there are gaps between the current treatment recommendations and the actual management for pneumonia at hospital. Also, we show that these gaps can be filled using tailored interventions.

Perspectives

My personal hope is that our study inspires other healthcare personnel to conduct their own quality improvement projects - to ensure the best care for the single patient.
