Why is it important?

Antibodies are currently the the most successful class of drug molecules in development. One of the success factors of IgG1 is its extraordinary long half-life, which the FcRn is responsible for. In order to develop antibodies with good pharmacokinetic properties their interaction with the FcRn must be investigated.
