What is it about?

Health and research professionals do not fully understand how faith institutions help to tackle the deadly problem of hypertension. What do they do to help? How do they do those things? Do their efforts work? What makes the efforts work or not work?

Why is it important?

Our findings demonstrate how knowledge, human and other resources are used to combat hypertension in the faith institution context; and how these frame faith institutions as potential assets in global hypertension health. It provides insights for professionals, policy makers and faith institutions to better tackle hypertension together.

Perspectives

Faith institutions are not traditionally thought of as partners in developing solutions for important health problems from scratch. This work challenges that with the facts and figures on how they can be partners in devising new and innovative solutions to the global problem of hypertension. The authors commend these findings to stakeholders in global hypertension health and the general public.
