What is it about?
The article is about how the COVID-19 post-exposure risk assessment was conducted in the teaching hospital Karapitiya, Galle, Sri Lanka, in the 2nd wave of the pandemic and what were the results and conclusions. The authora are the same as the expert panel who conducted the risk assessment for the exposed healthcare workers in the hospital. In the pre-vaccination era, it served it's purpose by identifying the high risk people and helping to quarantine them which was a major step in protecting the remaining staff and to ensure the safety.

Why is it important?
We did not have any other tool to identify high risk groups at that time other than the post-exposure risk assessment. By quarantining the high risk people after the assessment it helped to avoid fear of contacting COVID and reduced unnecessary panic among the staff.
Perspectives
I am very happy to be able to publish our own experiences on COVID-19 post-exposure risk assessment of healthcare workers in the pre-vaccination era in which we worked hard, day and night, without any break, to make sure everyone is working with the assurance of safety by maintaining the concept "protected exposure".
