What is it about?
Peers play an important role in each other's lives, including the decisions most people make over their lifespans. Peer mentoring practices are acceptable for the prevention of alcohol and substance use among university students. This should be made a standard practice on university campuses.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that the use of mHealth for peer mentoring among university students is a feasible practice. University management should utilize the available technology to prevent substance use among university students.
Perspectives
The findings of this study are exciting to me and the co-investigators because it provides much-needed evidence that peers can be used to positively influence each other to address issues of public health importance.
