Why is it important?
The current political landscape is fraught with scientific suppression and heightened mistrust in scientific expertise. At the same time, global change poses “wicked problems” that have become ever more complex, pervasive, and damaging. Developing innovative solutions increasingly require diverse research approaches. The need for bold, independent and collaborative scientific initiatives like the MOPGA program is greater than ever.
Perspectives
This article is a manifestation of an incredible collaboration across diverse researchers. It was a long time in the making considering all of the different perspectives and approaches. It is a product of genuine collaboration across many disciplines that has been enlightening for my own process of doing science and how to make the most impact.
