What is it about?
The study considers the interplay between multiple gene regulatory networks, all of which coordinate group behavior in bacteria. We develop a mathematical framework to analyze the interactions and demonstrate that it can successfully predict the organisms' response to varying environmental and social conditions. The results show how multiple networks provide more than just redundancy; they let bacteria fine tune their behavior, increasing their sensitivity to some factors and their robustness to others.
