What is it about?

The Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) industry recently introduced non-tobacco nicotine (NTN), which is not tobacco-derived and is often marketed as “tobacco-free nicotine.” Given its novelty, it is important to understand where young adults learn about NTN ENDS. This study investigates the various sources through which young adults are exposed to NTN ENDS, and to explore the relationships between exposure sources and NTN ENDS product use behaviors.

Why is it important?

Our findings reveals significant associations between exposure sources and NTN ENDS use behaviors, providing important insights for public health interventions and policies aimed at reducing NTN ENDS use among young adults, as well as informing strategies to counteract the influence of exposure sources.

Perspectives

Our study addresses the emerging use of novel ENDS product use among young people in the US and fills a significant gap in the current literature on NTN ENDS use among young adults. The results presented in this manuscript will contribute significantly to the existing body of knowledge and provide valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and healthcare professionals involved in addiction prevention and control efforts.
