What is it about?

A qualitative study to understand the perceptions regarding antimicrobial use and its resistance among the medicine dispensers and community members in a sub-urban area of Nepal. We have explored the use of antibiotics by consumers, the dispensing patterns, the regulatory barriers and many more through the discussion with the providers and consumers.

Why is it important?

Since antimicrobial use and resistance are not limited to single institution or individual patient, interventions need to extend to diverse communities and encompass multiple healthcare settings. Therefore, an integrated approach comprising population-level interventions, inter-sectoral coordination, patient education initiative, robust surveillance, and monitoring emerges as imperative to prevent the growing threat of AMR

Perspectives

AMR- its cause and consequences cannot be attributed to a single entity. It should be everyone's concern and there is no any alternative other than a collaborative effort from all sectors.
