What is it about?
Herbivorous dinosaurs survived without flowering plants like grass. Here we show that ancient plant groups, like monkey puzzle trees, horsetails, and ferns were good sources of energy for these dinosaurs. We also show that some plants, like cycads, wouldn't provide as much energy. Therefore, we suggest that horsetails would have been the ideal food for dinosaurs like sauropods to eat.
