What is it about?
In this study, we involved primary care patients and clinicians as well as trained patient partners from metropolitan, suburban and small-town areas in Quebec (Canada) in a structured and anonymous communication process. After three rounds of open and closed questionnaires interspersed with feedback to participants, we identified six top priorities shared by patients and clinicians to optimally organize cardiovascular care provided in primary care settings for patients. We also found aspects of care on which patients' and clinicians' perspectives differed significantly.

Why is it important?
Cardiovascular diseases and their risk factor are leading causes of morbidity and mortality globally, and virtually everyone is at risk of requiring cardiovascular care in their lifetime. Few studies involve patients in setting organizational priorities for care delivery, and no study to our knowledge had yet engaged patients and health care professionals jointly, which is critical for relevant priorities to be implemented and sustained in clinical settings.
