What is it about?

We asked adults who have been victims of violence during childhood how could have school helped them and we compared their answers to what school staff who have been trained report. We linked the actions to the victims' needs to assess if they are being met.

Why is it important?

Our findings allows to see to what extend the responses and actions taken by school staff to help children that have been victims of violence are meeting their actual needs.

Perspectives

We enjoyed the unique opportunity of combining victims' perspective with school staff views. We hope this article helps raise awareness about the huge potential school has to buffer the stress and other detrimental effects that victims of violence during childhood may experience.
