What is it about?
Deep Reinforcement Learning, combined with candlestick images for stock market predictions can show that AI has the ability to switch its attention on various parts of a candlestick image dynamically when events occur. In this case the event analyzed is the covid-19 stock market crash of 2020.

Why is it important?
The ability for an AI to switch attention based on importance is almost human like. Human traders use candlestick images because it allows them to combine numeric data and intuition. The larger impact of this paper is its attempt to answer the question: Can an AI mirror that ability?
Perspectives
This project was very fun. Trying to teach an AI to learn something that humans claim as "intuition" gets right to the core of intelligence. Being able to make progress on that front was an absolute pleasure.
