What is it about?
We previously reported various biological effects of EM•GOLD which was produced from a consortium of microorganisms. We report here our attempt to identify its active principle, termed EMF, that brought about the observed effects.

Why is it important?
The effects of EM •XGOLD on humans have been shown phenomenologically. The mechanism, however, remains in an enigma. Therefore, identification of the active principle is important to know the exact mechanism and to further extend the observed beneficial effects.
Perspectives
In the present paper, we identified Mg, K-containing microparticle as a possible active principle of EM•XGOLD. We also showed in the paper that one batch of authentic MgCO3 exhibits similar effect. We also discussed the other author's findings regarding biological effects of carbon materials like graphites and carbon micro coils. These lines of evidence suggest an interesting possibility the inorganic materials in general to exert biological effects, and will set a stage for further research along this line.
