What is it about?

Biomass for energy is a debated tool for climate change mitigation. We map and characterize the themes being debated, the arguments used and those contributing to the debate. We identify three story lines being followed by actors in the debate. the forestry focused, the climate focused and the critical.

Why is it important?

The research is important to understand the dynamics of stakeholders' influence on the policy making process and on how science and the scientific community is perceived and used by different actors in the debate on the sustainability of using biomass for energy.

Perspectives

Contributing to this paper was an eyeopener to me on how the way we talk about biomass for energy may influence the management of biomass for energy.
