What is it about?
Preterm birth can be caused by a number of factors, such as maternal nutritional status, maternal diseases during pregnancy, and maternal obstetric history… of which secondhand smoking may be one of those factors as well in countries with high rates of male smoking. Based on the results of this study, secondhand smoke significantly increases the risk of preterm birth, with an odds ratio of 1.92 (95% confidence interval: 1.31-2.81)
