What is it about?

We have developed a new imaging approach for inflammation using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) by targeting the 18 kDa translocator protein (TSPO) with our agent [18F]AB5186. We set out to assess the distribution of this agent, and optimise the way we analyse the data to allow widespread use of this imaging approach in the future. This new agent shows a distribution around the body which is consistent with organs which we know express TSPO. In addition, we go onto show that the way we analyse the data can be simplified without compromising the results. This is achieved by simplifying the way we measure how much agent is in the blood, and the model we apply to the images in order to get the most useful and straightforward quantification.
