What is it about?
The study is about the immune response and processes incurred by surgery. We have observed that they are similar in Both normal healing and rejection at the beginning. and later on the immune system shifts towards rejection of what it identifies as non self.

Why is it important?
Studies such as this are important for the field of allotransplantation (transplantation from another donor) to identify the different mechanisms at play and possible targets for immune modulation and interventions.
Perspectives
Its exciting to be a part of an active microsurgical lab that enables multiple arms of research, one of which is a systemic immunological map of two key processes - wound healing and rejection. Using the same well established model for our immunological studies and later on for our cryobiology, chimerism, and MSC's studies enables systemic and reproducible work on which we can further expand our knowledge, and test other innovative technologies.
