What is it about?

Parasitic worms are common in communities with improper sanitation access and no clean water. We have shown for the first time that providing deworming medicine to pregnant women in these communities decreases the risk of neonatal death and improves birthweight.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that deworming medicines during pregnancy can improve birth outcomes and save lives.

Perspectives
