What is it about?
We introduce MetConSIN, a computational method for understanding what is happening in a microbial community using the genomes of the member species. MetConSIN simulates microbial community growth and provides a mechanistic explanation of its simulation in the form of a set of interaction networks. These network reveal the way that microbes interact through their metabolisms.

Why is it important?
Our work provides a method for connecting microbial DNA sequencing data to the function and dynamics of microbial communities. Understanding this function is critical for engineering microbial communities to have a beneficial impact on their environment.
