What is it about?
Traditional semiconductor disk lasers require integrated semiconductor DBRs, which are not always conveniently available. In addition, the semiconductor DBRs are of high thermal resistance, which bottlenecks thermal dissipation process and degrades laser quality in high power operation. We report semiconductor disk lasers without the need of semiconductor DBRs, which may have advantages in material system choice and high power operation.
