What is it about?

Deafness is increasingly prevalent due to damage to the inner ear, and longevity. This short editorial hopes to increase understanding of deafness in residential care.

Residents and care staff can suffer from deafness. Staff can make adjustments to facilitate communication

Perspectives

Several members of my family and many patients/clients suffer from hearing problems. It is important to try to minimise the effect by using alternative communication, as well as ensuring you have a person's attention before you speak.
