What is it about?

COVID-19 restrictions impacted student paramedics' education and clinical placements. Teaching moved online, simulation in universities was restricted and ambulance placements were cancelled. The direct impact of COVID-19 on paramedic students led to questions about their experience, confidence and readiness to enter clinical practice as graduates. This paper provides a snapshot for a small group of student paramedics in higher education at that time.

Why is it important?

The impact of COVID-19 on student paramedics in their final year at UK universities had not been studied at the time this data was collected. This snapshot from a group of student paramedics studying during COVID-19 restrictions is important for us to learn lessons about their perspectives. The research helps identify areas for improvement and positive aspects that could be continued in higher education, or in future lockdowns.
