Why is it important?
This article reflects on the challenges of taking on the Health visitor role, managing a caseload of children, building therapeutic relationships wih families and how a robust preceptorship can support this. It is impotant for new practitioners to share experiences, reflection and practice. It is timely to discuss becoming a health visitor in Scotland due to the changes being introduced and the impact this could have on HV practice and outcome for children.
Perspectives
My hope is that this article will be helpful to other new practitioners but that it will also stimulate discussion on the benefits of preceptorship support for new practitioners.
