What is it about?

Traditional physiotherapy can be expensive. People need to regularly visit the clinic to receive treatment. We are comparing two patient-focused treatment techniques that do not need any expensive machines. We want to compare which of these purely exercise-based techniques is better and safer.

Why is it important?

We want the patient to be able to self-manage their condition and reduce the economic burden of receiving traditional physiotherapy at a clinic.

Perspectives

Many patients with Bell's palsy were unwilling to come to therapy regularly and found the overall cost to be high. This leads to us seeing more patients with incomplete recovery and complications that follow with the later stages of the condition. We expect the findings of this study will help encourage the use of active exercise-based therapies for clients in the early stages and provide them with interventions that suit their individual needs.
