Vaping induced severe lung injury

What is it about?

Vaping is increasingly common worldwide but a recent epidemic of vaping associated lung injury seems only to have occurred in the US. It now seems to be waning. It seems to be associated mainly with vaping of cannabis related products and may be due to exposure to vitamin E and/or other preservatives.

Why is it important?

The epidemic was associated with severe pneumonia often requiring Intensive Care with a substantial mortality. It seemed important to flag up the syndrome to alert physicians in case examples were seen in the UK.
