What is it about?

Some people who have had major surgery on their guts have a higher risk of getting kidney stones. This article looks at the dietary and nursing management of those kidney stones.

Why is it important?

Approximately 25% of patients with this bowel surgery experience symptomatic kidneys stones. Whilst being very painful to pass, they may also require invasive intervention to remove them, and cause long term kidney damage. This article explores ways in which the risk of developing these kidney stones can be reduced using diet as a management strategy.
