What is it about?

There has been a rise in the number of cases of Measles in some parts of the UK. This article reminds nurses what they can do to help prevent more cases and to report any possible cases.

Why is it important?

Measles immunisation declined in some areas due to myths about a link to autism 20 years ago. Babies that missed the immunisation then are now young adults who are often susceptible to the infection - which can be worse in adulthood.

Perspectives

This could be another pressure on the NHS that is not often reported when other winter pressures are recorded by the media.
