This is a two stage study into the impact of clinical placements on the decision-making of adult nursing students on the choice of their first staff nurse post.

Why is it important?
The pilot (published in the BJN, Feb 2017) and substantive study (published in this paper) have identified four key areas that are significant factors in the decision-making process of newly qualified nurses on where to apply for their first post.
Perspectives
We are now undertaking a longitudinal collaborative study into midwifery, child, mental health as well as adult nursing students.
