Why is it important?

Platitudes that such abuse must never happen again, whilst heartfelt, are unrealistic. More attention needs to focus on how to understand the antecedents to abuse, with an expectation that it will happen.

Perspectives

A new focus on the antecedents of abuse by staff is needed and patients deserve nothing less.
