Why is it important?
Uncertainty among people living with mental illness has not been investigated. This paper provides insights from a nursing perspective and fills a gap in the literature. Knowledge around uncertainty among people living with mental illness may improve quality of care and support the process of personal recovery of service users.
Perspectives
This article brings a topic forward that needs to be addressed further in clinical practice as well as in health care research. It is the first author's contribution to a much needed discussion around issues that are relevant for people living with mental illness. However, more important than the results of this study are what people living with mental illness have to tell about their experiences and their needs.
