What is it about?

The call for innovation is all around us in health and social care. This paper looks at the practitioner perspective through the different phases; from generation of the idea, implementation to future activity.

Why is it important?

The findings show several ways to help support innovative activity including clarity around what the term 'innovation' means. Practitioners need a culture of expectation of innovating with support to initiate innovative activity.

Perspectives

This study is important as it gives voice to the practitioner perspective. These are the people who are identifying innovative ideas and delivering on them. To often they can be held back with a query of 'is what I am doing innovative enough?'
