What is it about?
Low back pain with sciatica is a very common health complaint, yet it is often poorly understood or managed. This case study looks at the background behind this and also a real life scenario where the management of low back pain with sciatica was reviewed and optimised by a physiotherapist who is also a non-medical prescriber, including a prescribing decision with critical analysis of the evidence to support all of the management decisions.

Why is it important?
The management in this case study ensures the latest evidence and clinical guidelines are considered when managing this common condition for safe and effective care and ensuring the best chance of a successful outcome.
Perspectives
This article offers a considered and holistic approach to low back pain with sciatica management and hopes to raise awareness of best practice for a condition that I frequently see sub-optimally managed. The article also offers the reader reflective questions around this considered approach.
